Overview


The school was founded in 1995 and it bears the name of Late Pramila Roychoudhuri, wife of Late Manomohan Roychoudhuri, a great teacher,   mathematician, philanthropist who was instrumental in spreading education, founded schools for girls and donated abundantly to many educational institutions. His worthy daughter-in-law Smt. Gouri Roychouduri   MA(Eng & Phil) B.T. an ex-renowned teacher and headmistress and educationist followed his footsteps and established this school for spread of proper English education, which is much of a necessity   under present day environment. Very high quality education is provided in this school other than various extracurricular activities.

                 In 1995 a charitable trust was formed and was named 'Pramila Memorial Education Trust'. It consisted of retired and eminent teachers and professors who had dedicated their lives to impart education. The motto of the trust was to uplift Pramila Memorial Institute, a small unit then, into a fully fledged recognized English Medium High School.

                   The school is now an English Medium co-educational institute. It received 'No Objection Certificate' from the Government of West Bengal in September, 2005. In September, 2006 the school received affiliation from the Council of Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi up to secondary stage (Class X). In December 2010 the Council has granted permission to open I.S.C. (Class X) with three streams, Science, Arts & Commerce. Now the school is affiliated to C.I.S.C.E. (I.C.S.E. & I.S.C.).

                   The school is spread over a vast area with natural surroundings of green and gardens away from bustling crowds, free from sound pollution and traffic disturbances. Besides airy classrooms the school has a huge library with a collection of 10000 books, 3 well equipped labs, a huge playground where there is a badminton court, a basketball court and a volleyball court; a swimming pool project is in the scheme. The teachers are highly qualified and convent educated and come from respectable background and is dedicated to service. Other than in house teachers, Experts are there in all subjects who put their valuable suggestions for the betterment of the curriculum and this facilitates the students to a great extent.

THE MOTTO AND OBJECTIVES OF THE SCHOOL

The motto of the school is to enrich students with proper knowledge. Let knowledge lead to wisdom and let wisdom bring courage, courage to know more and courage to face life.

The main aim and objective of the school is to nurture, encourage a small bud to blossom into a flower, i.e. overall development of a Child's personality. The child is made to be aware of the world around gradually through the process of learning. The process includes coloring, musical classes, playing sessions, value education, group discussion etc. Child must start looking beyond himself and development of a child's personality is emphasized in the total learning process. As the regular school subjects are inter-related and interwoven the teachers try to co-relate those with everyday life and a child learns to evaluate things in the light of his own experience.

The method of teaching includes participation of all the students and involves pupils the learning process through sharing. This might inculcate the feeling of unity, togetherness and brotherhood amongst the pupils. The school teaches secularity through education and induces the pupils to follow the same.

The aim of the school is also to build firm characters and health of a child and make his existence a purposeful one.

RESULTS:

                  The school sends candidates for the Indian School Certificate Examination at class X & XII level, every year. The results of the First Batch in 2009 March Examination was: 100% Success and all students got above 63%. 40% of the students scored above 90%. The top scorer got 95%. In 2010 March Examination 20% students scored more than 90% marks and 70% students scored more than 80% marks. The top scorer got 95.5%. Success was 100%.
