All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2016

AIBE will be conducted to test an advocate’s ability to practice the profession of law in India. It is a mandatory exam for all law students.

What is the test about?

AIBE 2016 will be conducted by Bar Council of India this year to test an advocate’s ability, qualification and merit to practice the profession of law in India. This is now confirmed as a compulsory exam for all law students.

Who is eligible?

  • Candidate should pass LLB
  • Candidate should be enrolled with any State Bar Council.

What are the test syllabus, duration and format?

Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes


The Question paper will contain at least 7 questions from each ‘Category I’ subject. The paper will also have 23 questions from the ‘Category II’ subjects as a whole. These 23 questions will include questions from at least 5 Category II subjects. Category I subjects will be tested in Part I of the question paper and Category II subjects will be tested in Part II of the question paper.
