What is the test about?
Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) conducts the
UGC-CSIR NET for other Science subjects, namely, Life Sciences,
Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Earth
Atmospheric Ocean & Planetary Sciences jointly with the UGC. The
tests are conducted twice in a year generally in the months of June
and December. For candidates who desire to pursue research, the
Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) is available for five years subject
to fulfillment of certain conditions.

What are the test syllabus, duration and format?
Joint CSIR UGC NET 2016 will be a single multiple choice question-based test in subjects of:
- Life Sciences
- Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences
- Mathematical Sciences
- Chemical Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Engineering Sciences
The total duration of the paper will be two hours (120 minutes) and the total marks 200.
