What is the test about?

The test measures drawing and observation skills, sense of proportion, aesthetic sensitivity and critical thinking ability, that have been acquired over a long period of time, and that are related to specific field of study, i.e. Architecture.

Who is eligible?

  • Candidates who have passed their 10th standard or equivalent exam can try for this examination.
  • Candidates should have had Mathematics in the qualifying exam.
  • Candidates should have scored at least 50% as an aggregate with Math as a subject in the qualifying examination.
  • Candidates who have completed 10 + 3 diploma course related to any stream, from a recognized university or board, with an aggregate of 50% can also try for this examination.


What are the test syllabus, duration and format?

The NATA Syllabus has Drawing Test and Aesthetic Sensitivity Test.

For Drawing Test, candidates are expected to:

  • Be able to sketch a given object proportionately and present it in a visually appealing way.
  • Be able to draw from memory certain scenes or situations.
  • Have good sense of light and shade and present it well through drawing.
  • Create visual harmony.
For Aesthetic Sensitivity Test, candidates are expected to:

  • Reason analytically.
  • Visualize different sides of 3D objects.
  • Identify certain objects and materials on the basis of their textures.
The above are some of the things, among others, that candidates are expected to come prepared with.

Exam Pattern:

The Drawing Test shall be a pen and paper based one. There shall be three questions to answer, in two hours.

The Aesthetic Sensitivity Test shall have 40 questions to be answered by the candidates, getting about 90 seconds for each.
