B. Mona High School was established in the year 1983 by Mr. R Rangaswamy, with a firm belief of imparting education through which character is formed, strength of mind is increased, the intellect is expanded and by which one achieves all round development. Great importance is given to character formation and holistic development of the child.

BMHS offers a very well developed programme comprising of academics, sports and co-curricular values. It provides opportunity for every student to grow in knowledge, self confidence, skill and understanding. Every class room is well ventilated, furnished and offers right atmosphere for learning. Each and every student is given maximum individual attention. Each class room is provided with black boards and chart boards for illustrations and display of charts. The teachers are only too ready to give extra help to students after school hours. Efficient transport facilities are also provided by the school management.
Computer lab: - Computer education is an integral part of the curriculum. Computer education is introduced at Grade 4 in BMHS.Students are trained to acquire the knowledge of computers by highly qualified teachers. An internet connection in the lab provides internet access for educational materials. In computer education, emphasis is on concept formation rather than merely providing information. At primary level and middle level, the students are trained to use computers with focus on application software like Logo and Paint. They are also trained to use MS-Office applications like MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint. Students are given hands-on experience to work on these applications which are required for day-to-day activities.
The science lab: - The science lab provides an atmosphere of experiencing and learning science under the professional guidance of able teachers. Students exhibit their innovative, creative power through models, activities. The science lab also helps in the better understanding of concepts taught in theory classes.
Library: - The vast collection of text books, reference books, fictions, periodicals and audio/video material like cd/vcd help the students as well as the teachers of the whole school to get information on the required subject. A collection of reference books includes encyclopedia, dictionaries, atlases and the syllabus based text books of different authors help the students and the teachers for their day to day teaching and assignment work. Workbooks on subjects like Mathematics and Science are also available in the library for the students’ use. We try to inculcate in students the habit of going through reference books so that they can expand their knowledge on topics taught in the classes.
Reading programme: - Grades 1 to 6 have a special exposure to reading books in the library. Teachers interact with students after reading each and every book. This helps students develop interest in reading from a tender age. It also helps them in vocabulary development.
Audio visual: - Students enjoy presentations through Audiovisual. This helps the student to understand the subject in a much easier way. They also provide the much needed break from conventional learning. Students are also shown documentaries and presentations which help in their emotional development.
The Mathematics lab: - Students prepare models and charts with the help of their teachers based on their syllabus. Projects done by the students are exhibited during the Annual Science Exhibition.
Art and Crafts Programme: - The art section is committed to bring out the creative thinking and artistic growth through a well organized curriculum. Art education not only nurtures creativity but also leads to emotional development and eases stress. Art education complements main stream academic education. Teachers guide and encourage the students to exhibit their hidden talents and motivate them to develop in this field too. Art education begins with the basic foundation course of colour identification. Students are taught about primary colours and are also taught how to make secondary colours from the primary colours. The students are encouraged to use different media like crayons, colouring pencils, paints, etc. which are provided by the school itself. They are further put into drawing skills like sketch drawing. The study of art is further developed through stitching, design embroidery, knitting, crochet and fabric painting for the senior level. The art ability of the students is evident in the various exhibits created for all annual events and fests.
Health Centre: - Students can use the health centre whenever he/she feels unwell. Basic first aid facility is provided and utmost care is taken by the matron till the arrival of the parents. The parents are requested not to send their ward to school even if he/she is slightly unwell.
Extra Curricular Activities
Co-curricular activities are at par with academics. Students have to compulsorily attend Physical Education, art, moral education and NiE (Newspaper in Education) classes. Besides these, optional classes are held after school working hours.
Music classes Vocal & Instrument are held during school hour where students learn music from a professional music instructor. These classes help students develop their creativity. Music also provides relaxation and tranquillity.
Dance is a joyful art of expression. Classical, folk and fusion dances are taught by the dance teacher after the school hours. The trained students perform in various Inter School competitions and in the school events.
