Visual Art & Craft
Art education at GIPS is designed to develop and nurture students' creativity. Students broaden the definition of art by engaging in various forms. Starting with the elements of design (line, color, shape, space, texture, etc) students gradually move in depth to the principles of design (balance, pattern, emphasis, contrast, rhythm, and etc).
Students learn art education through various methods such as drawing, painting, pottery, photography, animation, weaving, and wood carving. Art history, an important segment of the art curriculum, helps students understand the techniques they will use.
The music program at GIPS prepares students to be musically aware, knowledgeable, literate, and involved - preparing them to be lifelong participants, learners and supporters of music. In class students are encouraged and enabled to express themselves musically and respond to music made by others. The goals of the GIPS music program include providing a strong foundation in music literacy, theory, history, performance and appreciation appropriate to each grade level.
Students achieve these musical goals through singing, rhythm activities, creative movement, playing instruments, and listening activities. The school provides opportunities for students to take part in Hindustani, Carnatic and Western musical activities including instrumental lessons, choir, and orchestra as part of after-school program.
GIPS dance program offers a combination of coordination, strength, flexibility and spatial awareness that are not only the basics for all other sports, but are also skills for life. The curriculum is designed to be progressive, safe, fun, and motivate boys & girls alike. Students are encouraged to strive for both individual and team performances.
A variety of dance forms including Indian and western dances are offered to all students from K-12. Instructional classes offered in both classical and contemporary dance forms include bharatnatyam, bollywood numbers, ballet, tap dance and folk dances from around the world. These dance classes also provide students with opportunities to learn about various world cultures through knowledge sharing and communication about dance as a form of expressive art.

Instructors at GIPS train the students to the best of their ability. Some students come fit, while others are to be made fit. Most come with limited flexibility. Students are looked upon as an individual, never compared to anyone else. Our instructors will be there every step of the way. All that is expected is a willingness to try.
HERE ARE SOME BENEFITS YOU CAN EXPECT FROM TRAINING IN TAEKWONDO:
The principles of Taekwondo techniques are based on the design of your body. For power you develop the larger, powerful muscles of the torso. The speed of the techniques comes from the fast, agile muscles of the arms and legs. As you progress in Taekwondo, you will learn to coordinate this speed and power, and develop a concentration to focus all of your body's strength into a small, hard striking surface like the edge of the hand or the heel of a foot.
When the speed and power developed through Taekwondo is used in a self-defense situation against the vulnerable parts of an attacker's body, the results can be incredible. Taekwondo allows a woman to emphasize many of her natural physical strengths, such as power in the legs, while learning a method of self-defense efficient against a much larger opponent. Knowing you can defend yourself, your confidence will grow. And confidence alone is usually enough to deter potential attackers.
This does not come naturally for many people, but self-confidence can be developed over a period of time. Through Taekwondo, as you accomplish new goals, your confidence level increases. Taekwondo instills a sense of discipline and self-confidence that can carry over to all aspects of your life.
Our children live in a hurry-up world of busy parents, school pressures, incessant lessons, video games, malls, and competitive sports. We usually don't think of these influences as stressful for our kids, but often they are. The bustling pace of our children's lives can have a profound effect on their innate joy and usually not for the better.
We have a strong belief that yoga can help counter these pressures. When children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfilment, they can navigate life's challenges with a little more ease. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that's non-competitive. Fostering cooperation and compassion instead of opposition is a great gift to give our children.
Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration and sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them. Yoga brings that marvellous inner light that all children have to the surface. The physical movements introduce kids to yoga's true meaning: union, expression, and honour for oneself and one's part in the delicate web of life.
