The canopy of the school was embedded with 50 children and 5 teachers at 15, Park Street in the year 1975 and in 1980 the institution shifted to its present building. Now we can boast of more than 2000 happy children.
In 1986 our batch of children for secondary examinations (CBSE) were sent. In 1998 we sent our first batch of students for senior secondary examination (CBSE) in three streams-Humanities, Science and Commerce examination. The growth of the school from 50 students and 5 teachers to its present strength would not have been possible without the active involvement and encouragement from a very positive school Managing Committee headed by Late Mr. Jit Paul andMrs. Shirin Paul (Chairperson) .
We intend to spread our umbrella with a galaxy of schools all over Kolkata.

The school canteens in each of the schools are a student friendly affair. The ambience makes the space students' own. We endeavor to provide wholesome, healthy yet popular food stuff to children. Health drinks & soups are common items on the list as are bhel puri, sandwiches, pastries etc.
A fleet of buses & smaller vehicles make up the school transport system The school has an extensive network of routes on which school vehicles ply, providing safe and comfortable travel to the students. The school makes it mandatory for students of classes LKG to VIII to travel by the school transport system on routes covered by school buses. Those students who commute by their own private conveyance only are exempted from the service.
Students of classes IX to XII are also encouraged to use the school transport system as far as possible. The school firmly discourages use of any private Bus / Car Pool services on routes which are covered by the school bus. Parents are required to cooperate with the school authorities in this matter.
The school has extended itself to develop and cultivate an awakened atmosphere to adapt means to cater to the children with special needs without tagging them with the labels. Almost every class has one or more students with such requirement. The act of involving them in a very normal way with the extra effort subtly put by the faculty creates the difference. Every thing with a straight appearance has the inherent curves, which we have camouflaged to make it easier for the child to race with the main stream. The child is no more a they, he/she is we. We have well trained qualified special educators to facilitate the programme. Apeejay School is an Inclusive School having differently able children who has the potential to cope with regular CBSE syllabus. Children with Cerebral Palsy (CP), Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) and Learning Difficulties (LD) of different categories come to the Special Educational Needs (SEN) department for remedial classes. Special Educator makes a need based curriculum for the special needs child and helps her / him to get mainstreamed as much as possible. Modifications of syllabus or question papers are made according to the need of the child. The department emphasizes on early intervention.

Our Vision is to educate our children not merely for living but for life. A life lived should be meaningful, positive and propelling towards the intended goal. Children under our guidance could aim for the so called impossible, build a strong willpower which would give them the strength to achieve- "To fight for the right without question or pause. To be willing to march into hell for a heavenly cause."
Academic excellence definitely is the backdrop in this pursuit of life, however, achievable according to the aptitude of the individual child, synchronized in a harmonious environment. A child after 16 years of education in Apeejay School develops a spirit of universal humanism and a cosmic vision.
Swami Vivekananda rightly said "Education is not the amount of information that is put into your mind and runs riot there, undigested all through your life" - Education as we visualize has to play a catalytic role where it enables a learner to pursue and discover the men, matter and materials, there context, their relevance, their utility in their own way.
Our Mission has been to achieve the above mentioned benchmark.
We take appropriate steps to make learning an enjoyable and stress free activity.
We work on concept of multiple intelligence and cognitive learning is not given much importance. Education is a continuing process and learning is something which is endless. The world is witnessing rapid changes in all spheres of human activities. Therefore it has become incumbent on us (teachers) to equip ourselves adequately, to cope with challenges of globalization and technological revolution. Therefore a continuous process of quality enhancement becomes essentially important to sustain progress.
