Casa Montessori was Founded by a Parsi lady, Ms Dinoo Dubash in 1934, and until her death in 1991 she remained the guiding spirit behind its success. The institution remains Parsi owned to this day and her good work is being carried on by her niece Ms Nazneen Dubash .
Nazneen Dubash shares many of her aunt’s beliefs; most importantly that Casa Montessori should cater to the Middle Class and that good quality education should be provided at reasonable fees.
The founder Ms Dinoo Dubash , was a great philanthrophist, and made many generous donations to various charities both in her lifetime and in her legacy. Nazneen Dubash shares her aunt’s commitment to help the poor and every year the gate money from tickets sold to the parents for the annual concert , together with an equal amount added by the school is donated in the late founder’s memory to a deserving children’s charity.
Casa Montessori at present.
our aim is to give the child the same sense of security and affection he/she experiences in his/her own home and to help the child to grow and develop physically, mentally, socially, and emotionally. The children are encouraged to learn through special Montessori apparatus that stimulate their senses and helps to develop their motor skills. Also, by observation and interaction with teachers and older children they develop good social habits.
Music is a very important part of the curriculum and children have half an hour of varied musical activity daily, such as singing, musical games, action songs, band activities, Gym, dancing & pulsation exercises (clapping rhythm)
Once the rains are over, the children enjoy outings to nearby gardens for a picnic and nature observation or to places of interest around Mumbai.

The founder Ms Dinoo Dubash was awarded her Montessori Diploma in London. On completion of her studies she toured Europe and the UK, observing 30 schools in London, Austria, Germany, France, and Sweden. On her return she decided to start a school of her own. The plan materialized and on 6th Aug 1934, on the death anniversary of her father, ‘Casa Montessori,” was born with 10 pupils.
Since May 1939, we have been located at the present premises at Marine Drive.
On August 2012 we complete 78 years!
