I teach Physics to classes VIII to XII students, both CBSE & ISC board.
First of all, you treat yourself as if you are one of the students. This helps you realize the difficulty students face in understanding a new or advanced concept. Then start the discussions with closely or remotely related entry-level concepts, which most of the students are well versed with, thus helping in building a positive learning atmosphere and then gradually introduce the concept or new idea to the students. Every student has a different capacity and pace of learning, accordingly focus on explaining -re explaining the concepts to students. To fast track the learning process, take the helps of videos, models etc.
Struggle with any subject happens due to lack of interest in the subject, and the lack of interest for any subject happens because of a lack of knowledge of very basic concepts, which leads to fear of failure, which further aggravates the lack of interest. So the first task would be to build the foundation of the student by making the basic concepts clear and then start slowly and gradually build up the required pace as per the student's learning capacity.
I align myself with the school curriculum/syllabus.
* Reviseing the basic concept again, getting the students involved in this. * Teaching with lots of examples from the daily life to explain the concepts. * Getting the students involved in the process by way of interactive sessions rather than a monologue. * Use of videos, working models etc, wherever required. * Revise the lessons again * Regular homeworks and * Conducting class tests on regular basis.
You connect the physics concepts to our daily life activities and it will ignite the interest in students.
